Odense’s central location makes it an excellent gateway to the rest of Funen.
Head east towards Kerteminde for a small coastal town atmosphere, beaches and maritime scenery. Travel south and you can discover historic towns, manor houses and the beautiful landscapes around the South Funen Archipelago.
Faaborg is another appealing destination, particularly for visitors interested in traditional Danish townscapes, art and access to the islands south of Funen.
Travelling through the countryside also reveals why Funen has long been known as the Garden of Denmark. Fields, orchards, hedgerows and traditional farmhouses create a softer landscape than many visitors associate with Scandinavia.
