If you have an extra day, Egeskov Castle is one of the outstanding attractions on Funen.
Located south of Odense, the Renaissance castle appears almost impossibly picturesque, rising from the water of its surrounding moat. Dating from the 16th century, it is widely regarded as one of Europe’s best-preserved Renaissance water castles.
The estate offers much more than the castle itself. Extensive gardens, exhibitions and collections mean that visitors can easily spend several hours here.
Egeskov is particularly attractive from spring through early autumn, when the gardens are at their best.
