One advantage of staying in Odense is its central position on Funen.
The island is often called the “Garden of Denmark”, and beyond Odense you will find rolling countryside, manor houses, castles, traditional villages and a long coastline dotted with small towns and beaches.
Visitors planning a longer stay can therefore combine two or three days of city sightseeing with day trips around the island. Egeskov Castle is one of the most famous destinations, while towns such as Kerteminde and Faaborg offer a very different, coastal side of Funen.
This makes Odense a particularly good choice for travellers who want to experience Denmark beyond Copenhagen without constantly changing hotels.
